Before watching this TED Talk a few days ago, I had never heard of Shonda Rhimes, probably a surprise to most but the explanation to this is my minimum interest levels to watching anything called a series. I hope her biggest fans will forgive me, I atleast know about her now and kind of like her too 🙂

But to those that still don’t know who Shonda Rhimes is, she is  the writer/producer behind Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder, is responsible for about 70 hours of television per season, she is a mother.

The Hum , of course this is a different way of thinking about love , its not the valentines day type of love, there is nothing romantic about it and it does not speak about a boy and a girl, nor does it speak about roses. But it is the everyday type of love. In fact its the love that your valentine’s day card from your son or daughter’s school was made of, love that expects nothing in return but joy. Its the love that puts a smile on one’s face long after the butterflies have left. It is love that  speaks about the passion that comes with loving. This is the love that has a will and so finds a way.  Its love that is sacrificial, less materialistic and a lot more emotive or expressive. This love is the investment towards self, family, work and anything else important to one’s life. It is more than just a feeling; it’s a constant yeaning, a motivation to act, act  towards that which burns your fire!

Shonda  says “The hum is God’s whisper, its the feeling that makes you strive for greatness in everything you do. The hum is joy specific, the hum is the electricity that comes from being excited by life, the confidence and peace, the real hum is singular and original… It is just love”

This is love that is demanding but the demand seems so easy because this love is genuine, this love is easy because it is love you’ve said YES to.  I want this love, where the song of my heart never seize to play. I want to feel the hum. I seek this hum!

It is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres”. 1 Cor 13: 4-7

Striving to do what we love so the hum never stops!
