As you all know, a lot is going on in our country, we are all fighting to be freed from one thing or the other at different levels. Just looking at the past few months we have been wanting to be freed from corruption, a government that is not delivering on its promises, racism still, expensive or costly education and even social stereotypes that box us as women… the list is endless.
Now considering that South Africa is a democratic country that still observes all Christian holidays I am made to believe that most of the South African citizens are Christians so we all believe in the same God and guided by the same bible principles so should all be carrying the same values right?
If this is the case why do we struggle to speak with one voice and be heard? Why are we struggling to stand for something and be heard when it comes to our social standing? Yesterday I was at cell and we spoke about carrying the Christianity mandate and becoming fishers of men. The discussion was good and we tried to be time relevant and unpack what this meant for us in 2016. We elaborated nicely and got into modeling the life of Jesus Christ, but what does this mean exactly for us today? Well essentially that means, we should be living our lives asking ourselves what Jesus would do in every situation we face.
What would Jesus do if he was riding on his donkey coming from Namibia and arrived in Cape Town, decided that he was looking for some literature or even thirsty and happen to stop at UCT find the campus closed and students scattered across a chaotic campus running away from the law, being shot at by police, what would He do if he travelled from Mozambique by boat and arrived in NMMU and found a similar situation.
How are we being accountable to the Jesus model that we speak of? What are we doing that shows Christians are amongst us? I don’t really know what the answer is, but the thought has been on my mind since I saw a post from a friend that spoke about the discomforting silence of Christians during this time.
Maybe we are praying yes but are our prayers enough… really, what do you think Jesus would do? Or maybe what do you think He’d expect we do? Lets talk about it … better yet lets do it.

The Lord would definitely not be happy with us, the body of Christ is silent about what is happening with the universities. He has given us authority over the works of the enemy. I believe that God is rising us up as voice to pray for our country. it begins in our Small Groups.
